I would imagine a that how fast a bike is has a lot to do with the motor.

And LLLOOOVVEEE the Jabber, especially now that it seems to have all the kinks worked out. The first month or so was rough, from air in my rear brake, to smashing the rear wheel and then the hub failed. Now though, it is riding great. |

My old bikes. Still have the Fervor frame, which I might build into a rigid. I don't have pics of my current (but now replaced) '99 Trek 8000 for some reason.. I know I took a bunch when I got my new camera a couple years ago, but I cannot find them.
My '94 Klein Fervor. Had RaceFace cranks & bar, Syncros stem & post, Magura brakes, a Judy, and the best wheels ever (DT Hugi rear, White Industries front, DT tapered Ti spokes, and I cannot remember for sure what rims we used.) Insanely light, but incredibly tough. I never had an issue with them, even after 4 years of hard riding, and about 15000km.) My LBS owner has them now (15 years later!), and he still uses them. He had them rebuilt once, but that's it. http://www.mts.net/%7Ebean1/cycling/BeanFervor.jpg My Mantra. Had the RaceFace cranks from my Fervor, otherwise XT stuff, KORE stem, RaceFace bar I think, Bomber fork (loved that thing) and uhm.. that's about it. It was a fun bike to ride, though it had a tendency to want to launch you into the air. :D http://www.mts.net/%7Ebean1/cycling/BeanMantra.jpg And, for a laugh, this pic is from around '92 or '93 I think. That's me sliding to a stop on my ass after getting launched over the bars by a large rock buried under some loose sand. The bike was my first mountain bike, a low budget Raleigh, with a very early Marzocchi suspension fork on it. No, I don't still wear the purple helmet. :D http://www.mts.net/%7Ebean1/cycling/BeanCrashola.jpg I should have some pics of my new bike ('08 Giant Trance X2) next week some time. |

Whats with all the roadbikes??? This bike is still one of my favorites: 07 Stumpy. Got a few ideas to breath some new life into it, but still works great. Awesome climber. Old pic:
Edit: wow that pic sucks, I'll find a better one soon. http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/j...5/DSC_0125.jpg |

Gotta say, I was a bit pissed about how poorly this climbed, but I got used to it. Or maybe I just dont care, because it goes like whipped, CO2 powered, gnar down hills compared to the can-o-ale. Now rather then a fine line between plowing into a tree and going way to slow (as on the old frame), the bike lets you know when you're angering it by slowly loosing traction at the rear.

http://www.mts.net/%7Ebean1/cycling/BeanCrashola.jpg on the edge of the trail - caught my pedal as I was flying by. I never saw it - all of a sudden I was airborne. I thought the front wheel had hit something, but friend riding behind me saw what really happened. Endos are always such fun. |

Incidentally...is that a front specfic tire on the rear? |
It is in fact a front tire, and I'll sacrifice some turning for the ability to have some traction up hills (I found this layout gives me the best traction). And everything is setup exactly the same way on this bike as on the old one was, just I think The shorter chainstays may have changed the way I ride a bit (I ride more neutrally then before when I leaned the bike more)

working on a low, low budget project. Work in progress shot (was afraid to open a wip topic for it, but can i?)

It isn't a bad looking bike. What's it weigh?

That Giant is thread worthy. Good inspiration for peeps wanting a nice ride but not alot of dough. Real sharp so far...
