Picked this up last Thursday. Hit the trails and got the first crash out of the way Saturday. Had I not crashed, I would have been taken out by a deer crossing the trail. Dumb luck I guess. I love the bike - much better than my aluminim hardtail.

You like it a lot? I was crossed between the HiFi 29er and the Top Fuel EX8. I liked my 29er HT so much that I stuck with that wheel size for the FS bike too.

yeah I dig it. It's my first FS so I'm not expert. However, it feels great. I was fitted today and it's even better now. He adjusted the suspension so it wasn't so much of a bucking bronco. Now it just rolls over terrain. Pretty cool.

Pictures from after yesterdays ride, I really need to get some lock-on grips mine are just old and as soon as some moisture get anywhere near them they won't stay put what so ever.

Here is my 1989 Miyata. The first pic is how I got it. It was free, got it from the original owner who had ridin it maybe 10 miles. It was 100% how it came from the LBS.
New fork, bars,stem, brakes, shifters, grips, pedals, seat, tires, tubes and it was ready to ride. Has been a fun bike. Now the paint is all beat off and its filthy, but doesnt matter. Still a blast to ride.

FWIW: Everyone, I know you are all 'jonesing' to get out and ride this spring, but riding wet or muddy trails causes huge amounts of erosion compared to riding dry trails not to mention the deep ruts usually left behind. As an avid trail maintenance volunteer my friends and I (and the IMBA) would appreciate it if you would let the trails dry out a bit before riding them. There are actually a couple of places I am aware of that the local authorities can ticket you for riding on wet or muddy trails, that's how serious the erosion issue can be. Thanks from the trail builders and a fellow rider. Not meant to sound like a lecture, just spreading the word.

@craigcraigcraig = <me climbing onto my soapbox> It's not the amount of mud on the bike it's the ruts that are left behind that cause trails to erode at a high rate. It also causes less experienced riders to ride around the rutted area, turning a bit of single track into what looks more like a jeep trail. I've been building/maintaining trails for >10 years and I can't tell you how many hours I personally have spent repairing deep ruts left behind by muddy trail riders. It definitely does have a big impact.
Another thing to consider is that trails get closed to mountain bikers routinely. One of the arguments that biking opponents use is photos of trail damage caused by careless riders. Riding wet trails causes the most damage, excessive skidding and riding off-trail are probably the two other biggest factors. I love mountain biking and I'm only asking my fellow riders to use common sense and help preserve the trails (and help keep them open) for everyone.
Finally, if you have never volunteered and helped maintain or build the trails that you frequently use, those of us that do could really use the help. Thanks. <climbing down off of soapbox>

Sorry to have gotten off on a rant craigx3, but it always amazes me when I meet riders who have been riding for maybe 5, 10 or even 15 years + and when you ask them if they ever volunteer to help maintain public trails all you get back is a blank stare.
But I agree, time to see some more sweet rigs.
