Update on my P-1 All Mountain. It's about the same level of component level as a Hard Rock. It has the disc mounts but I've not taken the plunge into disc brakes yet. I want to do something hydro, but the leaks and low levers that come into the shop have me a little nervous. There's a set of Sun/Deore single track wheels that I may pick up from work soon. The price is too hard to pass up. They may be heavy, but I like to have beefy parts under me at 6 feet/215 pounds. So far this bike has not disappointed me. It takes everything I can throw at it and hasn't broken anything yet.,,,,BD
Planning an eventual Shimano XT swap, and a Rock Shox mid level fork. I know it's no high end machine to deserve that stuff, but I can buy a decent frame later and swap everything over. Meanwhile, I am not out a huge chunk of money all at once.

My Ride
my 2010 GT Sensor 1.0. size small, full XT build. It's a great bike, ilove it. just stared riding again after about 12 years off. Previous bike was an old steel hardtail. It was a good bike, Raleigh M800 ithink, full XT with Manitou forks. The Gt makes the Raleigh look like a kids bike! this is the first time i've ridden a full suspension bike. I was amazed to say the least. the susp on this GT is unreal. fox RL32 up front and a RP23 in the rear. it climbs like a goat and takes the downhills with ease. best purchase i've made in a long time.

As of yesterday I officially got sick of the matte paint on the P-1. I pulled out the cleaner wax, and went to town. I am about half done, and it's shining up to a decent gloss.,,,,BD

I had a Mongoose Snare (gasp) for a while - Altus drivetrain, XCT fork, Promax (crap) disc brakes - $300ish Walmart thing (Noooo, I didn't pay that much for it). Other than the useless brakes and the 38# boat anchor weight of it, it actually wasn't a horrible bike.

Thanks, I think, Yeah, so far it seems okay, I don't have any problems with the brakes they seem to work fine. But then again I don't ride anything more technical that a 2. We don't have mountains in Katy Texas. it's all flat like you see in the pics

Hey, my definition of a good bike is the one you're having fun on, so by my standards I think you're probably ok.
Yeah, I ride mostly singletrack in the Appalachians and the Promax discs won't do much other than get you killed on fast DH sections.
If somebody disses your bike, just tell them that they're more than welcome to buy you a more expensive one any time they'd like.

Becomes
Soon to have drop bars, Avid BB7's and Tektro SS lever while I tinker fitting hydraulic brakes into campy 10sp bodies
I'm fortunate enough to work in a bike shop. Build cost so far $750, that's including buying the bike in its original configuration.. It will also get a nicer lighter seat soon enough, possibly carbon cranks, possibly fulcrum red metal whatever the top model is in 29er.
Single speed 45x18. 700x35c tyres.
I will add, yes, it sees use as a mtb single track and flatish stuff mainly. Obviously not going to muck around with too crazy stuff

Swapped the Lyrik Solo Air/internal lower cup for a Sektor Solo Air/external lower cup. Gave me a whopping 4mm less crown to axle height, but dumped 2/3 a pound off the front end. Not that the bike is tough to get the front end up with, or to toss around by any means, but it is noticably easier with less weight. Stuck a wheel from another bike with a Minion 2.5 DHF mounted on to check clearance, and it fits just fine - that's really about the largest tire I run anyhow, so it's a non-issue.
The Sektor is once nice riding fork, especially for the price-point it hits. Not quite as stiff as the Lyrik, obviously, but I've not found it a detractor as yet. Some wheel deflection noted today, though where I was was full of sloppy wet roots and rocks, so it may have been a tire traction issue rather than the fork. Similar trails the day before, in the dry, and did not notice the same thing.
Oil levels were correct right out of the box - Rock Shox has had issues with this off an on. As well, their air pressures are way off - to get the sag and ride I wanted, I'm about 20psi over their suggestion. This is nothing new though, either.
Keeping the Lyrik around as a back up, or in the event I end up not getting on with the Sektor for the long term. It's a good back up fork, since I could use it on any of the three bikes in a pinch. We'll see if the flex becomes an issue. I beat on a first generation Pike for a good long while (in fact it's still being ridden hard by the dude who bought it off me) and am not gentle with the Revelation on my hardtail. I'm not too worried about the durability of the fork. Methinks it sits between the Lyrik and Revelation line in terms of stoutness. Same basic chassis as the Revelation, but not quite as lightened up.
Sub-28# bike that I can beat on? Excellent!

Caution: Ignorant Question Ahead.
It looks like your seatpost is insanely long here, and that there is an extension or something on the bottom of it before it goes into the downtube. Is this something unique, or am I just an idiot? Neither answer will be surprising, but if it turns out to be the former, please explain. The latter: stating so should be sufficient.

Dig 'em. 2.1 rear, 2.25 front. High enough volume for my day to day riding, roll way faster than the Nevegals and Minions I've been using otherwise, and have not had any loss of traction issues other than in the really slimy wet once in a while. Fairly light. I wish they made the 2.1 in an EXO version. Can also be found for not too much cash if you shop around.
A nice combo I've run a couple times on rides when I've wanted more beef is the 2.25 ADvantage in back, and Minion DHF 2.5 3C/EXO up front. Way slower rolling combo, but steamrolls over things and has awesome traction.

Can't really tell you. Tried an Ignitor very briefly, but the traction sucked so badly it came off the bike very quickly.
