Trying to get back in the swing of things now that the kids are a little older. Recent mountain bike purchase was a left over Trek Remedy 8. I switched it over to 1x11 with XTR shifter, XT+ rear derailleur and 30t race face NW. Also added a KS Lev Integra dropper. It's been a lot of fun and looking forward to many more years and miles.

Just got this after a trade with a friend. Single speed, fully rigid, and the bars are way too frickin wide. That is the first thing on the agenda.

Looks like you ride fixed gears and road bikes. You should give the wide bars a try for a bit before chopping them or buying more. There is a reason they come so wide and why so many people prefer them. You may just need to get used to it.

I tried the new superwide bars for a few months, still have them on one bike for foolin' around. I just don't get it.
I remember BITD riding the stupid 21" narrow XC bars in the 90s too, couldn't hang with them, either.
25", about 640mm is the handlebar sweet spot for me.

In my opinion, bar width is no different than saddle height. It is all related to body dimensions, fit and riding style. I have wider shoulders than most so I need a bit wider bar. I run 750s on my XC race bike and trail bike. I run 780s on my rigid single speed and 785s on my rigid fatbike. I tried 660 through 720 bars and felt cramped.

updated with some revelate gear:
i actually got these for a different bike which is why the frame bag looks small, i just couldnt help but test them on the ecr.
ill be getting a full kit from revelate thats made for this bike this winter. also have the RH+Knards tubeless now, did a doublewrap of gorilla tape w/ 4oz sealant in each tire and has been good so far

Just showed up in the mail today and I slapped it together. 2014 NS Bikes Eccentric steel frame, 150mm fox talas fork, sram drivetrain/brakes, other stuff . Another used ebay score. Been riding 29ers for a long time and wanted to try out a 27.5er and a slack hardtail. Hopefully it doesn't suck when I test it out tomorrow.

I rode some stuff in the woods where I couldn't walk. If I would have had to out a foot down I would have been sliding a long ways down. I started wearing those micro spikes on my boots for that stuff.
