Tire ok for both street and mountain
 

I just bought a Cannondale Rize 3 (loving it!) and I'm trying to set up my Cannondale F3 Hardtail as a bike on which I can ride the 10 miles to the mountain and then hit up some trails. I'm looking for a tire with minimal tread in the center but some on the sides, and it has to be able to take at least 75 psi. So far, the Hutchinson Acrobat and Kenda Kozmik Lite II and Small Block Eight are the three options I see. Do you have any recommendations? Thanks in advance.

I'm a fan of Hutchinson tires for many applications. Just about any dry surface tire with little profile in the center should work.
But 75psi on the trails? Or do let some air out when you get to the trailhead?
That pressure's pretty much unheard of for MTB.
Above 50 my tires feel like they're no longer working as they're designed.

75 is just for the ride to the mountain on the road. I'll let out the air when I get there, as I normally run about 25 on the mountain.

I've been looking for a similar style tire. I ride mostly on pavement, but would like to be able to do some light trail riding from time to time.

I've been looking at the Specialized Borough CX tires.

My Hardrock Sport came stock with the Specialized Fast Trak tires. They're knobbies, but the knobs in the center are slightly smaller than the rest which makes them not all that horrible on pavement.

I ride with a set of Schwalbe Racing Ralphs. Amazing tires. Practically no rolling resistance on pavement (or on the trail), but incredible grip. The only thing that limits me from climbing the super steep slopes is not the tires slipping, but my strength. My lowest gear ratio is 32-34, which is pretty low... so that gives you an idea of the grip they have.

Great tires at a ridiculous cost. That's the only issue you'll have with 'em. 80$ a pop at my lbs.

i don't think they go up to 75psi, but as i said, there's no rolling resistance on the road.

I like these tires for multi use..and they dont cost to much.

I use Kenda Kozmic Lite II's for commuting. They're faster than the stock tires, , with a lower rolling resistance. I keep them at about 60psi. I do get an occasional flat, but I can't say for sure it's the tires fault.

Small Block 8s are a good choice depending on your trail terrain. Kenda Karmas have low profile knobbies but some more bite for the dirt. Just remember, you are going to have to compromise somewhere, do you want it to be the rolling resistance on the pavement or the traction on the dirt? Also, keep in mind the cost of the tires, you'll be wearing them down faster on the pavement, so don't use a soft compound tire and I'd avoid expensive ones as well.
