Karpiel vs. Mondraker?

Discuss.

scrublover 07-27-09 11:11 PM

I'd be nervous with the past doings of Karpiel (though it seems as if they have their **** together this time around...) but perhaps some skittishness as well with possible issues getting support and spare stuff with the Mondraker.

Go for whichever has the better geometry? Or, which one comes in root beer?

Dannihilator 07-27-09 11:28 PM

I heard mondrakers are flexy even when they are rootbeer colored have 26x3.0 gazzalodis and a marzocchi super monster.

Well, it's not quite root beer, but the Kaiser World Cup comes ina goldish/copperish color. Being the Fabian Fanboy that I am, though, I would of course want the Kaiser Pro Team version.

Spares could be a problem. I think there is no US distribution because it walks all over some design patents here.

I hear that a 7" fork and 2.5 Excavators erase a lot of that flex.

I wish Sintesi still made the Bazooka; I'd reconsider becoming a USA distributorship for them.

This needs a bump. I'm still on the fence.

Ask yourself this....."WWBR". What would Bender ride?

ed 07-28-09 06:03 PM

Bender was huge...don't get me wrong...but really looked pretty hack from what I've seen. I wouldn't do 1/4 the stuff he did, so mucho respect, but WWBD doesn't seem quite as proper as WW66D or WWGD...IMO.

ed 07-28-09 06:06 PM

Ooooohhh...WWGSD...nahh...needs to start shaving first.

dminor 07-28-09 06:11 PM

New "vs." thread tomorrow; this one will be real. WSDD - - What Should Doug Do?

I'm tired of "Crack-n-Fail vs. SpecialEd vs. Shrek Schlock vs. Scary Pisser?" Need to shake it up.

ed 07-28-09 06:14 PM

Schlock?

ed 07-28-09 06:15 PM

Whaadabout "Shameless...Crackomodo"?

dminor 07-28-09 06:16 PM

Sorry, maybe I'm jaded. I'm tired of Trek and them hanging their proprietary Bontrager junk all over their bikes.

ed 07-28-09 06:19 PM

I hear ya...you were just really reaching with the 2nd syllable

I know . . . I wrote Shrek and then got alliteration-happy :D.

ed 07-28-09 06:30 PM

How bout Schmeckle...isn't that like a little weenie or something? That kinda describes Trek.

Despite what you see from him in the freeride entertainment stuff. Bender's actually a really good rider.

Watch the bender segment in Back in The Saddle Again film.

Personally, I thought Mondraker was one of the worst bond films evah!

I realize this post is a year old, but no need to be nervous with Karpiel. I'm the US Karpiel rep/distributor and customer service is #1 priority. Their bikes are far different than before, performance wise they can handle all the abuse to can throw at it and pedal & handle extremely well. The Armageddons should be available within the next 2-3 months, way cool!

dminor 06-28-10 09:35 AM

Hi Brian,

Thanks for finding Bike Forums. Always nice to have an industry presence here; although, unfortunately, you won't find as many people here in tune with your product as over on, say, RideMonkey.

This was actually a joke thread that I started one day when I got tired of the "Boring cookie-cutter hardtail vs. boring cookie-cutter hardtail - - which one to buy?" threads that were multiplying like rabbits. Thought we needed to discuss some more exotic hardware.
