Yes. And a couple brake caliper bolts over the years, though none of those were mine...

Messed up chain guides, busted shift cables, broken pedals, spokes, etc.

Half the **** I carry doesn't usually get used on my bikes, but it means someone else breaking down doesn't screw up MY ride. I've been able to get other folks up and riding again quite a few times, reather than hoofing back to the car.

I usually don't have mechanicals when I'm carrying the stuff I need. Heck...I rarely flat anymore as long as I carry a tube.

That, of course, assumes you're with it enough to give it to them.

Camelbak + water
some type of food
multitool
tire levers
one tube (two if I have the Komodo that has one schraeder and one presta ) + patch kit
pump
couple zip ties
phone
keys
one of those jackets that packs down to practically nothing
license and insurance card
$20 or so

I'm probably forgetting something that I'll think of later. I've needed it all at least once, except maybe the cash, I can't remember if I've ever used that on a mountain bike ride. Anything breaks that I don't have stuff for and I've resigned myself to walking back.

On the XC - one or 2 bottles of fluid, depending on heat. Since I went tubeless, a co2, boot and tube, multi tool, CC and phone - all stored in jersey pocket or shorts - a bit more stuff and my camel back for the longer, infrequent excursions.

On the DH - commando, the truck is usually not that far away.

Basically i carry the same as most here, but a couple of things i would add are- A skinny speed king folding tyre, and tissue paper, in case of 'the call of nature' on a long ride. Those SRAM powerlinks are a God-send, got me out of trouble a couple of times.

Remember that the greenbacks double as tire boots.

I'm set up about like Zephyr with addition of a couple Shimano pins and 2" chunk of chain.

And on long rides or an overnighter, several of these.

Dang...I don't think there's a single component on my bike that I would even use a Crescent wrench or Channel Locks on.

Depends on how long the ride is. Sometimes I carry nothing but a bottle of water. On longer rides, I'll carry a hydration bladder filled with water and then water bottles filled with gatorade, a multi-tool, a tube and air, a cliff bar or two, cell phone, and a duck.

True, but I also have my mom, dad, & grandpa on my ICE contacts & I do bring my phone with me. I work with a firefighter & he says the first thing they do when they have an unresponsive person with no ID is go through there phone & look for family to call. That's actually the main reason I don't have a lock code on my phone.

But now that I think about it, a wreck bad enough to knock me out would also probably knock my phone out too. Maybe I'll start bringing my ID along with me.

I would tend toward some of Lowcel's Duck's Salsa.
Dang, been forever since lowcel's been over here since his defection to the dark side.
