searching for info on spinner echo 1 fork

I have a chance to get a spinner echo 1 fork (I think 2005) to upgrade my lowly Iron Horse Maverick. My maverick currently has a low end spinner fork that absolutely sucks. I've been googling around quite a bit, and I cannot find solid info on the fork.

Can anyone tell me if this is worthwhile for me? On the flip side, I was looking to eventually purchase a rock shox dart fork.

I believe the Spinner brand to be much like RST. They do have some high end offerings, which I wouldn't believe is much worse than the mainstream brands, since they have actually made forks for Rockshox, Marzocchi, Fox, etc. However, due to the bike manufacturer's tendencies to put Spinner forks on very low end bikes, they've gotten mostly bad publicity and they are generally ignored when it comes to aftermarket forks. That's why you're not finding much info.

Ben,

I think that you're exactly right. This spinner fork seems to be much higher end than my current fork, so that's why i'm so intrigued by it. These are the stats that I found on it.

Spinner Echo 1 Stats:

Steer Tube Length: (uncut) 10.25"

Travel Adjust: 85mm - 135mm (52 clicks of adjustment)

Lockout Button (with blow-off protection)

Light-Weight Magnesium Lowers

Beefy 27mm Sanctions

V-Brake Bosses

Standard 51mm Disc Tabs

Possibly a U-Brake hole too (cant say for sure)

So, I got more info on my current fork and it's was not exactly easy to find. It's a spinner grind 1, and I'm sure the lower end of the spinner family. I have been looking at purchasing the other spinner fork that i posted above.

I had someone offer me a Rock Shox Dart 1 that they pulled off a bike, but I'm not really sure if that's going to make things any better. Is the switch to the Dart 1 even worthwhile from the other lowend fork?

Overall, I'm just hoping to have a smoother experience. I don't really do much in the way of big dropoffs or anything, just xc riding. Otherwise, I'm thinking that it may just be ok to live with the current fork for now.

I rode a spinner grind1 well it was an insync grind at the time for 2 years. it's about the same as a dart... I'd try servicing the spinner, mine had a tendency to take on water after I washed it or had a sloppy ride.. it's now siezed up. take the top caps off and see if you have some gunk in it.. also the teflon lube helps.. my dad rides one on a comfort style bike, works great for that... like the dart it just has a spring in 1 leg of the fork.

a tora or better would be a good upgrade. the other spinner you list sounds good except for the "beefy" 27mm sliders.
