Time for new brakes

I palp a GF Wahoo which is about 6 years old. It has crappy Tektro brakes which are rusting. I need to replace them. I'd love to upgrade to disc brakes but my wheels are made for rim brakes only and I am not awash with $$$.

Can anyone recommend decent replacement rim brakes that are inexpensive?

I use Avid Single Digit 7's
They're lighter than anything made by Shimano for rim brakes.
And they're not stupid-expensive, maybe $20-$25 per wheel from Jenson USA or other online retailers.

Single Digit 7's are lighter than XTR v's?

Edit: Well I'll be they are. They're even lighter than some of campy's road brakes.

Add some Kool-stop salmon pads and a good rim sidewall cleaning too.

Kool Stop are the best for rim brakes
