what length hose do I need?

I saw Juicy 7's for $70 each pre-bleed. The hose length is 1400mm but isnt that long for the front? How do I shorten it or deal with the extra hose? Also my frame is only a 17 inch so I thought that was a little long for the rear too.

I believe that you can shorten the hose. In fact, just found this on the SRAM site. You can cut it to length but you'll need to bleed it, or have it done, before you can use them.

Get the bleed kit from avid. Comes with new compression fittings, oil, vacuum syringe. Cut the hose to length gently with a razor blade, slip on the new compression ferrule and plug, tighten it up, fill, and bleed. The great thing about the juicys is the ease of filling and bleeding with the vacuum syringe. In the shop, we actually used to rig up the vacuum syringe to other brands of hydraulics because it makes bleeding so much easier. Oh, and don't forget to release any dissolved gas in the fluid before you fill (easy to do in the syringe).

You can get bleed kits online for approx $45 shipped but I found mine on EBay for about $25. I generally end up bleeding the brakes on my Prophet about once a year so the kit will pay for itself.

I have juicy 7s.. and the 1400 mm is for the back. For front it comes with 800 or 850. That's too long for my bike but I'm too lazy to get a bleed kit so I left it there.
