2010 stumpjumper fork install question....can some post the proper sequence of the fork install? i think i have the thin metal spacers in the wrong place.. or can post a link to a picture schematic.. the reason why i am asking is that i got bike right out of the box and had to assemble it. and they forgot to send the manual and something does not seem right..
ant..
the second pic looks like something is missing.like a ring.

you need the crown race which goes against the black part of the fork in your picture. seems as though you don't know a lot about assembling it so maybe it's best to take it to a bike shop and have them do it for you. so it's done right.

You should learn how to use that little flower button on your camera as well.

Just curious....how do you have a brand new Specialized in a box come to your house? I thought they don't sell direct.

i bought the bike in the box at a the BS while i was out of town... the box was opened by me and the manager ,we took everything out to make sure it was all there.. boxed back up and i was on my way. when i got home i was putting it together and ran into a jam with the fork install..not sure where the metal shims go ..on the top or bottom? i know where the carbon shims or spacers go its the thin metal one in question.. what i need is a part breakdown picture of that fork being installed in the bike tube..

that little metal shim goes on top like you have it, it takes up the space around the fork after you have the fork inserted into the headtube. you need to install the crown race onto the steer tube first though.

Holy crap...the pic's actually don't help.

Take the weird looking top cap off.
Remove the stem and spacers.
Remove the preload wedge.
Pull the frame up a couple inches off the fork crown.
