Race Across the Sky is the movie about the 2009 Leadville 100 shown in a 1 day only format. I saw it last night, and have my opinion, but I want to see what others thought.

Saw it here in NY City. Very well attended. Pretty much what I thought it would be, as a film. Enjoyed it.

I sat through 5:14 of this. Got a bit bored at parts.
Are you saying there's an even longer version? Wow.
I'm dying to know who won.

I would consider the Leadville 100 race somewhat MTB related...

Having it shown in movie theaters for only one night was pretty lame. Why not a full week???

Why not mention something about Leadville in the OP?

I'm not sure where you're going with this but it had better be constructive b/c I'm always constructive, I never say anything negative, I never make fun of anyone on the forums, and I always follow forum guidelines.

I liked the show quite a bit.

I have mentored a few people through their first MS150 and I always tell them to thank the volunteers. Everyone talks about how down to earth Dave Weins (sp?) is. Then at the top of the Columbine climb as he makes the turn he yells out thanking all of the volunteers. Pretty cool of him. He's top notch in my book.

I was actually commenting to a friend regarding the distinct lack of 29ers in the race. I expected to see many more than I ended up seeing. A whole lot of folks are racing 29ers here in IL and WI.

I was really impressed with the guy riding the 15 year old bike that still has the original front tire on it. That guy was inspiring.

There were a lot of good stories. This guy was one of them. I bet he's a freakin' animal when riding with mortals.

The movie itself was a little too Lance-centric. They needed to find other parts of the story.

I was pulling for Tinker. **spoiler** He didn't win.

I saw it. I thought it was good. A lot of good stories, and good information about the race. Decent action as well. My favorite part was at the end, when the screen went dark and some guy in the theater yells "Anybody want to go for a night ride?!"

The thing to remember is that it doesn't get made without Lance being involved, so yes it's somewhat lance-centric. Then again, he was winning. If he hadn't been, I'm sure it wouldn't have been quite so focused on him.

I thought they did an excellent job providing a feeling for the culture around the race. My favorite uncle and cousin live in Durango, so I'm hoping the Colorado Classic series lance mentioned happens.

The film did not sell out in all locations for the single night, so the idea of it running a full week probably wasn't appealing. That said, if interest peaks, they may do another single day showing.

Saw it. Here's what I liked about it...

1. Paid homage to Dave Wiens - It's amazing that Wiens, at 45 yrs young, can go toe-to-toe w LA - and everyone loves the guy becuz he's so freakin' normal
2. Really showed you how epic and difficult that course is - it was scary to watch some of the people trying to do this thing
3. It will help promote the sport

What I didn't like

1. It felt like they slapped it together pretty quickly, which they did - production values were really average
2. Bob Roll as the narrator? Puh-lease. Needed a Mt Biker who could take you "inside" the race
3. I'm surprised Dave Towle wasn't asphyxiated when he was interviewing LA as he had his nose firmly buried in LA's arse
4. Too much l'homage du Lance - the guy is incredible but it was over the top

Had someone done this "right", this could have been a seminal film, like "Overcoming" or "A Sunday in Hell"

I saw the movie and was really impressed. I agree that it focused on Lance, but sheesh...he just flat out dominated. I mean he finished almost 1/2 hour in front of Weins and Lance rode the last 7 miles with a flat tire. Dude is amazing. If Lance weren't there, I doubt anyone would even be talking about it, let alone a movie.

I do wish they would have followed some of the other stories, but let's face it, there were 1400 other "stories".

My guess is that there will be extensions of the film in the DVD version, because they'll have more time to put it together.

Saw it, liked it. Too short, not enough depth, too Lancecentric, as expected.
As mentioned, w/o LA racing it last year and calling it out - this movie doesn't get made.
I wanted to see more Manny, just saw his kit a few times.

Encore showing Nov 12th. Tell your friends.

Sounds like this one was a hit, too. The theater I went to was about 80-90% full.
