Is it a Raw or Raw Pro? The Saracen Raw is a very low-level bike and I don't think it costs half as much for what you said your dad paid. More than likely, it's a Raw Pro.

The Raw Pro is a fairly decent entry-level (for full-suspension) bike. It's a single-pivot design so it's not real fancy and you might notice some pedal induced bobbing. The rear shock is probably not of exceptionally high quality and may not offer all the adjustment features of a better shock but it should do the job. The front fork is also entry level and nothing to write home about but it's not dangerous or anything. The components are what many would consider the minimum level for a true MTB group. They're Shimano Deore. Functionally they're fine although they're heavier and may not last as long or shift as smooth as LX or XT.

Ride what you have and upgrade when things break or save up and get a better bike as your skills progress beyond the capabilities of the current bike. The first thing you probably want to do is make sure the bike is mechanically sound. Then start hitting some mild trails and just play around. See what you can and can't do and assess where you want to go from there.
