Used fork recommendations - 80mm - Vbrakes - under 4lbs

I'm new to this game and just brought an older bike that came with an 80mm fork. So far, I like the bike and would like to upgrade the fork. Right now, I'm riding 80mm V-brake Manitou fork that's about 3.5lbs (oil).

I plan on keeping my eyes open on ebay & craigslist. What would you recommend I keep an eye out for?

I would like to keep it around $150.

Again, must be:
80mm travel
V brake compatible
Under 4lbs (preferably closer to 3.5lbs)

If you have a similar set up, let me know what fork you have and how you like your fork.

Is this Manitou R7 Elite good? What's weird is Manitou's website states it's disc only.

However, JensonUSA is selling a version that works for V brakes? Is that possible? Who's right? Who's not?

Notice that Jenson has BOTH versions available:

Ken, I understand that. But why did Manitou exclude the Vbrake version from their website?

ccc, there seems to be a discrepancy between Manitou's website vs Jenson's website. Manitou's website does not show a rim (V brake) for the R7 Elite. But Jenson shows a V brake option for it.

Can anyone confirm who's correct?

Is $210 a good deal for this fork?

Too bad you weren't upgrading 3 weeks ago, I might have bought your Manitou if you're selling. I ended up getting a non-damping eBay super cheapie. At least it's simple enough I won't mess it up and beefy enought I'm not likely to bend it, so I guess I'm happy with it. Good luck in your search.

Looks like Jenson changed their ad. Since that fork is no longer available, can anyone else make a recommendation?

My '99 came with an 80mm Manitou fork. Did most M2s came with 80mm forks? I really like the geometry of this bike, but my fork is beginning to leak.

Can you guys recommend a modern fork (or one from a few years ago), that would work? I'm mainly looking for:
- 80mm
- V brake is a must
- under 4lbs.....preferably closer to 3.5lbs (my fork is 3.5lbs)

DDAC, you're going to have to figure new alts for both this forum and MTBR. You wasted so much people time on MTBR, time that might better have spent on new people getting into the sport. You are a selfish motherF.
