XT Hubs, disc, rim what you think?

Opinion wanted, I'm got parts to build wheels (rim brakes) and got some XT hubs, unfortunately I ordered wrong ones, I got M775's (have the centerlock splines for discs) when I should have ordered M770's which are the XT non disc version.

Should I just build the wheels up anyway? even though i'm not gonna have disk? wondering if anyone know idf the flange spacing is different?

775

770 Same thing ^ without splines on left for disc.

Without checking specs, I'm gonna hazard a guess that the flange spacing is indeed different. I know that it is different for the front (two spoke lengths as opposed to one length for the rim brake version).

Those hubs new come with a cenerlock spline cover (boot) I believe.

What I would do is use a spoke calculator for each of the hubs and see how it comes out.

Yep there is a boot which covers the centerlock, so it would be covered even if I'm running a rim brake. Do you think it would make a stronger wheel if I buy the 770's? I am thinking the flanges are wider on the 770's

So I just looked on Shimano's website.
The Center to Left flange is the same distance for the M770's as the M775's = 35.3mm
The center to Right flange is the same distance for the M770's as the M775's = 22.1mm

Think of it this way, you've invested in the future if you ever want to switch to disc.
