Air shocks vs coil over
OK, I tried searching but didn't really find anything. In looking for a bike I notice that some have the air shock and some have the traditional coil spring shocks. I guess my question is how durable are the air shocks? I weigh about 215 and don't want to blow it out. Several of the bikes I'm considering have the Fox Float RL. Decent shock, or should I look for something with a coil spring? (Yeah I know, newbie questions!!)

Still kicking.
Get a coil over.

a lot of people prefer coil overs for many reasons. from what i've seen, they're generally more durable and can take more abuse. you also don't have to worry about having to pump the shock up with more air cause of air leaking out of the seals and what not. if i'm mistaken, maybe someone can correct me.

I also like coil over because if the air part of the shock blows, it is still rideable.

Coil over is your best bet. Considering that you are over 200lbs. If you tried dropping with it you'd probably risk blowing it. I weigh around 180 and I don't like how the air shocks feel. So go coil over.
