why I like cheap plastic platforms

If I had clipless pedals, this road rash would likely be on me and/or the rear derailler. I layed the bike down on wet aggregate concrete and walked away without a scratch. My tailbone is a bit sore though. |
Wouldn't happen at all if you were riding in dirt where you belong!
ps forgot the :D |
Tell me about it, but I take what I can get.
|
I guess. I have found that I can get out of clipless very quickly when necessary. Maybe I'm just a clipless master. That must be it.
|
Truth be told, this was one of those slow motion wrecks, and I would've had plenty of time to unclip, but I rode the bike all the way down with my foot on the pedal (working the brakes to slow down as much as possible before impact), and the pedal actually shielded me from the pavement as I slid. If I'd tried to bail, I don't think I'd have been able to get my feet under me the way I was leaning over.

I prefer metal pedals, never could get my feet to stay on plastic ones. I've never liked the idea of having my feet attached to my bike, though. I've got an old set of caged pedals, that hold my feet great.
Of course, if I ever slip those pedals, they will destroy me. |

You must be a master! The LBS owner just had shoulder surgery thanks to "clips" He aint so fast. What could be the diff?

Well, I did it again yesterday. Twice in the same day! Same surface, only this time I wasn't turning. I was showing off for my kid and braked too hard. The bike slid out from under me, and I was left standing like nothing happened. That stuff is slick! :D

Perhaps because LBS owners don't usually get to ride enough....at least in my brief experience as one. I've been running clipless for many many years, exiting is not a problem compared to running flats without shin guards...
I guess I should add one of these - :) |
