Derailleur hanger on s a Specilized MTM

I posted this in the Bicycle Mechanics forum, but maybe here I can find an answer as well.

I have a Specialized Stumjumper ca 2000. It uses this derailler hanger:

https://www.specialized.com/us/en/bc/...emId=0&eid=367

I am going on a tour today and last minute I pulled it off the bike thinking that I might need a spare. Now that I am looking at it I wonder if it is designed such that the failure points are the screws that mount the hanger to the frame (they are particularly small). If so I would only need to find spare screws rather than the hanger itself.

Can somebody give me an opinion on my reverse engineering police work here?

(I am new to the Mechanics section of the Forum, but a regular poster on the Tandem Forum and infrequent in Touring and Folding Bikes)

Nope, the hanger is the bit designed to fail. Granted, if you nail something enough, those screws will fail as well. Most replacement hangers come with whatever bolts are needed for that reason.

Those two make/sell many hangers, to fit many bikes. I've used some from both,, and they are just fine. IMO, made to better quality than many stock hangers.
