Confused on drivetrain compatability
I have done a lot of searching and I am really confused over 8/9 speed drivetrain compatability.
My current setup has 8sp cassette & corresponding shifters. I had to replace both the cassette and the cranks on it. I went with the SLX M660 cranks. I realized after i had ordered that Shimano's site says the cranks are for 9 speed drivetrains. My question is: Can I use that crankset with an 8 speed cassette? If so, do I need to use an 8 or 9 spd chain? I would prefer to use an 8 in the back so i don't have to replace my brake/shifters up front.
