Worth of a disc conversion?
I have a '10 DB response, Just upgraded the crankset to something more durable. I bought a Manitou fork from a guy today for $50 lightly used, not realizing it wouldn't work with rim brakes. Now, I'm wondering if I should pick up his wheelset and brakes. He wants $70 for the wheels and brakes. Is this a good enough deal for the conversion?
Brakes are Hayes mx1 All he knows of the wheelset is Shimano Is there any way of mounting v brakes to a fork that is not set up for it? Like a clamp on mount or something? Thanks in advance |
if they are in good working condition then $70 for wheels and brakes is a pretty decent deal.

The rear wheel is a little banged up but still spins true, I can straighten out the dents

The is no way to mount V-brakes on a disc specific fork. $70 for the brakes and wheels is a good price. Sell your old fork, wheels, etc. on eBay or something and use that money to buy a new back wheel.

That's cool. Fix it until it can't be fixed is what I always say.
