Need help identifying an old carbon trek I used to have

*skip ahead if you dont care for a story.

I was given this old trek once upon a time by this "family man" who didnt ride anymore. He gave it to me under the condition if he wanted to use he was allowed. the bike hadnt been ridden in quite some time so the suspension fork needed replacement (so old it parts couldnt be had to replace it). I bought a new fork, bars, brake handles, grips, seat, seatpost, front fender, and tires. A year or two later and the guy asked to take the bike back as I didnt use it anymore. Well he wont give it back and wont sell it back as his son is old enough to ride now... I miss that bike and now that I have the time to ride Id like to have it back.

***My question is whats it worth.

I dont know the model, thats where I need the help. It was a bare carbon fiber frame with an early 90s logo (in purple) He told me it was an early 90s bike. It came with a manitou fork oil filled, The joints of the frame also had a neat little cover over them also in purple. The bars stem and seat post were all bare aluminum, and it was a hard tail. Oh also it had shimano trigger shifters, 7 speeds at the wheel and 3 main gears (at the pedals, excuse my lack of bicycle intelligence.

Basically I need some like model numbers if anyone knows...Id like to buy another like it (or at least make the guy a legit offer)

Anyway, thanks for any help in advance.

So, the entire frame was carbon? Not sure what the covers were. Only ask because Trek made the 8700 that had carbon main tubes but the rest was aluminum. I only mention that because I had a purple (actually called ice blue, I believe, by Trek). Good luck with your find. Not sure what you're looking to spend but would be better off buying something a bit more current. Either way...get out and ride!

That was it big guy, thanks a bunch. The reason Im wanting this bike back is , well for one I already have some money in it, and two it was the first real bike I ever rode, blew my mind at the time and never really found a bike that matched me since.

Thanks again for the help.

Awesome! Go get it! I still have pictures of mine and understand your connection for sure. It always rode well and was the one bike I put the most riding/racing time on. Hopefully that changes w/ my new ride though. Enjoy!
