Funniest thing?

What is the funniest/weirdest thing thats happened to you while you've been mountain biking?

urbanknight 03-16-10 08:18 PM

My friend and I happened upon a stag and its two children. When the little ones started to come closer to us out of curiosity, the father stamped its foot and they stopped. Then, dad turned his back to us and took a huge dump.

Haha, Knight, I lol'd.

I saw a guy changing, butt naked, behind the door of his car into his biking clothes. It was my friend I was waiting for.

Nothing. I'm all business, all the time.

This made me remember the time my buddy and I were riding in Oak Park in Oceanside. He ran over what he thought was a pile of trash and it turned out to be a bum sleeping under a pile of trash. Hilarity ensued.

Hahaha, oh god - what did the bum do?

Maybe not weird, but funny. I seem to have a knack for coming across people screwing... Note to amorous people, leave the immediate trail or you could be severely embarrassed when I come flying up the trail and start laughing at you.

Time to invest in a helmet cam.

Trust me, you'll find 300x better on the internet - these are just normal people. I drink to forget.

Not funny but more on the weird side, found a dead guy just off the trail once....on the funny side it was more my friends thinking something I did was hilarious while I was either scaring myself or picking myself up off the ground...

Suicide? My friend found a woman hanging from a tree(suicide) :/

It upset him a bit.

Looked like it, positioned with a nice view, somewhat remote, bag with an empty pill bottle found nearby...

urbanknight 03-17-10 11:46 PM

That's morbid.

Come to think of it, that same friend that watched the deer crap was on a ride with me and another guy when he found a cow bone just off the trail. He used my recently flatted tube to tie it to his top tube and take to science class the next day. I think it was most appropriate that we were less than a few miles from a favorite downhiller's trail called "Dead Cow".

I was ~15 miles into a 26 mile loop and a took a picture of this clown's 29er hardtail, don't these fools know

I was flying downhill in Reddish Knob and spooked a grouse (sp) (or some other groundbird thing) and it flew up into my front wheel and back into my leg.... scared the crap out of me.. my buddy said I screamed like a girl prior to running off the trail and endo-ing into a huge mud hole... He thought it was pretty funny. :)

So 4 of us are climbing a hill on our local ride. I'm riding second, and I'm about 20 seconds behind the first guy. As I approach the top of the hill, he's off his bike, turned sideways off the trail, and looks like he's jerking off, then white stuff goes flying everywhere.
Turns out there had been a bunch of teenagers huffing NO2 from some whipped cream cans, and he found the leftover cans and quickly put them to use.
He then repeated the comedy as the other two riders approached. We now call that place jerkoff hill.

I think he was sleeping something off - he just kinda yelled incoherently at us. We took off pretty quick.

I went through this phase where I endoed on the first ride on a new mountain bike. This happened on my Gary Fisher and I still don't know what caused it. The landing was soft and we got a nice laugh about it. However, when I got back up and started rolling again, about 5 seconds after getting rolling I can over a stick. It broke under the weight of the front tire, the right side of the stick shot up just as my right leg was on the down stroke and the end went into my shin. Thankfully the bone stopped it from going in very far. About an hour later I was able to pull out a chunk of wood about a half inch in length and width from the middle of my shin. It left a nice scare that always gets a grimace from people that hear the story.
