Hyrdaulic Brake Problem

Hey. I have Juicy Three's on my bike. The brakes are getting really sloppy, like they can hardly bring me to a stop. Then, in a day or two, they are almost too normal. Is this because it's almost zero, and then 16 above outside? Thanks, Tyler.

Not temperature related... are you storing the bicycle upside down in the car?

I have the same issue, with Juicy 7s. One day the lever pulls back over half way, the next it pulls back 1/4 of the way. I prefer 1/4, it's really weird.

Nope. Well, it might have been on its side from driving to the shop to my house, so like 10 minutes...does that count?

No... maybe you are contaminating the disc with something? Try wiping it with some isopropyl alcohol and a clean rag/papertowel.

This won't be an immediate fix either.. if there is a bit of oil on the pads then it will take time to burn off.

On the juicy 7 there is a reach adjust dial... maybe that is loose?

you don't give a lot to go on but if braking is as sloppy as your intended post, replace your pads and clean your rotors, and before you ride , make sure your calipers aren't leaking brake fluid on your system

No, I always keep it maxed out so the lever requires as little pull as possible. It's easy to check if it's loose, just try to rotate it both directions.

ever checked the motion of the piston when it's spongy?

Bleed them, if you see little black specs in the dot brake fluid, you need new o-rings. Also inspect the hose for leaks or if there are crushed sections of hose.

Knowing sram, that's also a possibility.

FYI, OP... keep a revolver on hand when you bleed it!
