This bike isn't mine match

Hey you guys, I've just bought a new Magna bike(I didn't know it was crapy cause I'm a starter). Well, the guy at target said it should last longest for 2 years. But the thing broke down almost completly after me riding it for about 2 weeks. Can you guys tell me anything about the different bike brands and what is good for a mountain bike? Also, cause My bike broke down, can you guys give me a good bike that costs like around 200 to 400 bucks? I was thinking of the '99 Mongoose MGX GRX 6.5. What do you guys think?

I bike with the mountains and terrains and this Magna pretty much wasn't up to it I guess...

No. The MGX Mongooses is also a department-store-grade bike.

Visit every local shop within a reasonable distance of your home. Tell the salesperson your budget and the way you want to use it. Test ride bikes. Pick the one that suits you best from the shop that treated you the best.

If the bike you liked the best was at a shop that treated you shabbily, go with your second choice.

Thanks. There are some used bikes and they look ok and cheap too for the brands. Can you guys tell me what's the qualification for a second hand bike?
