First post..need some advice on a 2001 Specialized Stumpjumper MB :)

Hi,

I am looking to buy a used MB and found an ad on Craigslist for a 2001 Specialized Stumpjumper. Can anybody tell me what model this is?

https://images.craigslist.org/3nb3k43...66708a1813.jpg

Here are some of the details:

* FULL XTR COMPONENTS INCLUDING THE HUB
* SIZE. 19.5
* RAPID FIRE SHIFTERS
* NEW SADDLE

The price is $400 and I'm really not sure if that is a good deal or not, so any feedback much appreciated!

Thanks all

Anybody know what the model is? That bit alone I'm having trouble determining.

Thanks all.

That's not much of a picture.

Bike pedia is a great resource for researching bikes. How hard has it been ridden, any upgrades? XTR is bullet proof, but is it worn out. Offer $250., but $400 is a square price if it was well maintained and not worn out.

I actually have a Stump 2001 M4 hardtail and it looks nothing like that bike. I mean nothing like that bike. Das actually posted a photo of my bike although mine is silver. Notice the thicker down tube. The top tube is also quite thick. I paid $800 (sale price from $1000) NEW. $400 is too much. $200 - is better. You are purchasing it in person right?

Take it back I actually have a 2002 - my components are actually better than the bike posted by Das. I have a Fox Float fork and shock and XT components and I still only paid $800.

Cheers all. Passed on that bike and ended up getting a 1992 Diamondback Ascent for 50 bucks. Now to figure out why the gears won't change back down and the chain keeps slipping haha.

that's because you bought a 1992 diamondback ascent for 50 bucks. probably not well maintained the last 18 years.

Yep, sell the Diamondback for $50 and buy that Stumpjumper. You will probably end up spending at least $100 getting the rust bucket to work.

I just bought that exact bike last Friday and took it for its first ride yesterday and I loved it. I paid $225 for mine and it is not hammered on or anywhere near worn out. rides really nice.

I agree, dump the diamondback, it's probably heavy as heck!
