Have You Seen or Heard About Yamaha Mountain Bikes?
Hey guys, I just wanna ask if anyone of you have seen or heard about mountain bikes built by Yamaha Corporation. I happen to own one, but I don't know what model it is...anyway, just for now, I just wanna find out how much info you know regarding their bikes. I'll try to post some pics of my bike so I can find out what model it is. Thanks!!

That is pretty much what I remember too a full suspension single speed. I had 2 friends who each had one. One red and one yellow. Their fathers were both car salesmen too coincidentally. Heavy as hell. Great for jumping off of stuff.

Just a little history about my bike: This mountain bike actually came as a surplus from Japan. One of my uncles work at the shipping port...and believe me or not, this is where he got this bike, along with another one. He bought the bike for only around $80 each (a total of $160, right?). Then one time, my uncle sold one of these bikes to my father for around $95...that was like around 1996 or 1997 when he bought this bike. When I was already in first year high school, he gave me this bike...and so, I decided to customize it myself. When my dad bought its bike, it used to have slightly used parts. Now, only the frame, the cranks, and the shifters (thumb shifters) aren't replaced...the rest are new. It cost me around $300 to restore this bike. Though it weighs around 13 kilos, I can still get a hang of it.

^^That's to distinguish it from a saxophone so the pawn shop knows where to display it.

No one is telling you outright it's a cheap bike that's not going to be worth anything in the future. It's just a typical department store bike. Sometimes car or motorcycle manufacturers will license their name on department store bikes, but it doesn't make them collectible. There may not be any model name because it might be the only "model" that has the yamaha name slapped on it. In whatever case if you enjoy riding it, good for you, but it's not anything special, sorry.

Or when Trek put their name on Volkswagons. They were still POS cars.

Yeah, I do have plans on keeping this bike...whether it's a collector's item or not, I'm gonna keep this bike 'cause this is the first bike I ever assembled...besides, it's also my first mountain bike...so it's pretty memorable for me. Thanks man..
