One more question: What safety gear do you ride with?
I hope these aren't getting annoying, I've already started like 3 threads in the last day or so.
Anyway, what safety gear do you normally ride with?
I'm fairly new to the sport, and therefore don't do anything really huge, like 15 (or even 5) foot drops. For now, I'm pretty happy with my regualr non-full face helmet, fingerless gloves, and a pair of 661 veggie wrap shin guards.
I swear I won't start any more new threads for a while now.

For cross country (I pretty much only ride cross country - I take the occasional drop, skinny, or whatever, but it's still cross country!), I just use my helmet and short finger gloves.
At the moment I'm considering getting full finger gloves (more protection, plus for when it gets colder.)

for DH i definatley wear full finger gloves, becasue your hands can get really chilly (especially when up high in mountain :S). Shin guards i do wear, but only for XC and some downhill, they are a bit uncomfortable for flat, urban riding.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned sunglasses...very critical safety equipment, IMO.
Otherwise, just helmet and half-finger gloves for me. But glasses are crucial.

Now, I must go wash my minds eye, and begin my fast, not that Im hungry.
oh, regular helmet, full finger gloves off road / XC or cooler weather, glasses allways, a fly in the eye at anything over 40km an hour really really reallly hurts like a begger, and your other eye waters up at the same time, I've learned my lesson. (also now Ive got prescription lenses, as Im getting old and I prefer to be able to see clearly

I ride mainly XC and always wear a helmet, sunglasses, full-fingered gloves and oh yeah... the most important safety device of all: my brain (which is protected by the helmet of course). Some might consider my CamelBak also a form of protection.

I usually wear sunglasses and my helmet when I'm riding from college to work, and sometimes my helmet when I'm riding around at home.
