Which mountain bike should I get?
 

I want to purchase a new or used mountain bike for the first time so I can get my hunting dog out in the mountains of Utah for exercise. I'm a roady at heart and probably always will be but you never know. What's a decent mountain bike to consider for this purpose in mind and still have a fairly reliable bike as well?

price point?
rigid, front susp, or full susp?
do you need racks for hunting gear?

Don't need hunting racks. Price I would like to keep at $1000 or less. Rigid or Full no difference to me.
