What is your dream bike?

If you could have any bike, what would it be? Either custom, or already assembled.

For me, it would be a Specialized Epic S-Works.

I don't have an ideal bike. I have several I would like. None of the new virtual pivot bike apeal to me in the least (vp or demo (which is a modified 4bar I know ))

Probably the new ironhorse dh bike. But even then I would drop that in a heart beat if something with a horst link came along that was a good price, light and strong. And I really love my bighit. Maybe a big link for it. eh who knows. I don't go with trends much. I like what continues to work well.

Custom is the only way to go. I'd go to Walmart and get myself a Huffy, have the head angle relaxed to about 30 degrees, and put the new Fox downhill fork on it for the full on chopper look (gotta love those 40mm stanchions), dress it with 24" ape hangers (with bar ends), full XTR drivetrain, steel wheels with coaster brake, vintage schwin bumble bee yellow banana seat with high back chromed sissy bar, little blue custom california Honey Comb cereal plates under the seat that says "squrl", full reflector kit allllllll the way around, reflective tape on the seat stays (can you say "Bling Bling")
Oh yeah, now THAT, is a thing of beauty..

I own my dream bike. There's a few things I'd switch out, but as a whole.. the part that counts.... the frame... of my dreams is in my hands.

The new Da Bomb Projectile looks nice. 10inch of travel with a horst link!
I'd put a 888, X.0/9 drivetrain, hope hydro disc brakes and any other crazy DH stuff that I can think of.

A Whyte 46, or a Specialised Enduro Pro.

A De Rosa King for road.

I'd build up a custom x-c bike starting with a Nicolai Helius CC frame. Fork would be a Look Fournales. It would be ungodly sweet.

My lovely wife is my riding partner and, yes, we have gotten good air with it off the waterbars but nothing radical, e.g., bmx track stuff. If you get 'em too high and they start to pitch or yaw there's not much you can do to correct it with body english like you can a solo rig. Also, repeatedly landing 275 lbs of riders + 45 lbs of bike on 36h wheels is not a low-risk proposition either.

In fact, we have some friends who did a photo shoot a few years back at a bmx track for an off-road tandem review and on the last jump of the day -- the money shot that made it in the mag attached below -- they augered in on the landing and sent Greg (the magazine editor & the guy on the back of the tandem) to the hospital with a broken collar bone. We use a negative of that photo as part of the banner on our off-road tandem enthusiast's discussion forum.
