Adding rear disc brake.

I did a quick search, and didn't find much to help me. I've got an older bike, that doesn't have a disc brake connection on the back. I've looked around at disc brake kits online, and nothing seemed to have an attachment for the brakes. Would I have to modify the frame to ad the brake? Also, would I need to change the hub or the entire wheel to ad the brake? I recently put a new front fork on my bike, that has a disc brake on it, and it's the first time my bike has been able to stop well. I don't know if it would be worth getting a rear disc brake actually, as the front stops me quite well. And if I jam on both brakes, the rim brake in the back will lock up just a little if I nosedive enough. However, if I use the rear brake only, it takes me several yards to stop.

Oh, and my bike is an old Huffy Aftershock. And it was free, and I'm cheap, so don't tell me it's not worth fixing or something. :p

Also, I don't care at all about weight at all.

There are adaptors. I wouldn't do it personally. The amount of force generated by a disc brake is incredible. So, I will say it, it isn't worth fixing :p

That said, get a better fork, throw on a front disc brake. Most of your braking should be coming from the front brake anyways

I have upgraded the front fork, with a disc brake as I said. :P

It still wont flip me over forward, and it's squeaky, but I honestly don't know if I've got it set up right. I've never had disc brakes before, so I really don't know what I'm doing.

$110 at your local Harbor Freight. Bonus ---> adapts more than one bike to disc brakes. Unlimited other uses.

Even cheaper: http://www.instructables.com/id/Buil...memade-Welder/

^^ Ahhh, cheaper but a stick welder (buzz box). I made the (possibly erroneous) assumption that it may be an aluminum frame ;).

Cool article though.

I didn't even think of that d. You're probably right; seems like most frames are al now.
