I'm not exactly sure if this is the place to post pictures, I've scanned the forum index, and there doesn't seem to be a section (that I noticed anyways) devoted to pics.

So here's my bike.

It's a Huffy Aftershock frame, with a Mongoose front fork and handlebars, front disc brake, 21 speeds, Shimano derailleurs and gears, some generic fauxleather seat, and a fresh coat of Dollar General rattlecan black.



















This is the frame I got most of the parts off of.




You can see here it's cracked.





I know it's nothing special, and I know it's all cheapy stuff, but it was all free (save for the $1 paint job) and it gets me where I'm going.

I'll give you credit for being resourceful. I like the bike for what it is - a cheap salvage job. But it's probably no fun to ride.

Well I wrecked the f*ker tonight. Riding with a friend, I was showing him how well my brakes work, and I accidentally leaned forward while I smashed them, flew over the handlebars (completely cleared them, all 6'5" of me) hit my hands on the pavement, arms collapsed, and my face smashed into the sidewalk. My friend freaked out, because I layed there flat for a few seconds waiting for the bike to land on me. It happened to land to the side, bending the rim, ripping the seat I bought Friday for it, smashing the headlight I also bought then, scratched up the fresh paint, and sending my water bottle I bought Saturday morning to match the holder I bought Friday flying across the road, and twisting the handlebars.

As for me, I got 3 stitches in my chin, several cuts on my hands and knees, a twisted left wrist, sore shoulder, and some road rash on my legs. I'm fine otherwise, all theeth accounted for, no chips even, no concusion, and not too much pain. I'm sure I'll feel it in the morning though. I just got home from the ER, now I'm staying at a friends overnight.

Disc brakes are nice, aren't they! Your lucky, could have been worse on pavement<<<<Correction! You did say pavement! Oh bageeezus those are very nasty falls. Glad your okay otherwise. Hate it for your build. But if you ride long enough this stuff can happen and will happen.

I tell you this, that is why we wear alot of protection when riding. I rode motorcycles for a long time and I still to this day see idiots riding motorcycles wearing shorts and t-shirts with their beeeeotches on the back in short shorts and little tanks! These folks can't even fathom what road rash is like and if you have a bad wreck and the flesh ripped off your body with all that debris that gets inside the wound. Ever hear someone in the debriing pool at a hospital having to get scrubbed to get the debris out after a case of road rash**********???? It is like hearing a mouse get screwed by a elephant! I just laugh at the simpletons when I find out they wore skivies on a motorcycle ride!

Always be prepared for the worst you can expect.
