how to make gear cables hug against the frame? too short

I am almost done putting together my bike from bikes direct but it seems like i can't get the gear cables to hug against the frame. It seems like they are too short. i dont want to just leave them hanging, so how can i put them in the slot?

You have to do it before they are all attached. I don't know if that answers your question because I don't really know what your problem is. A picture or more detailed description would help.

You may need to cut the cable housing to fit.

Try the repair info at parktool.com to start, see if this helps you figure this out. If you are really new to bike assembly/maintenance you may want to have a shop finish this up and check out the bike. There is nothing here you can't do on your own, but it sounds like you may need some guidance to make sure everything is ready and safe to ride.
