If you do not have much experience with bike parts, you will want to have a bike shop do some parts, such as the headset and the fork. This will probably be the most difficult part. If these components are not installed correctly, you will not only have bad performance, but the components themselves will be damaged.
Be careful and good luck!

if i were you id buy a video called fundamentals, everything from bikeing tips to building a bike from the ground up to suspension setup. a very good resourse, i think maelstrom did a review on it, if you wanted you could do a search. good idea with the forck/headset, if you dont get the starnut straight, it will lead to problems.
as for toolkits. how much do you want to spend?

The Fundamentals DVD that someone mentioned earlier is pretty good. It has some strange copy protection on it that won't play right in my DVD player. The whole section on suspension setup just locks up. I sent it back and got another copy, but it does the same thing.
I have a page on my website where I document building up a K2 Animal frame. It's a couple years old, and I've since moved on from that bike, but it's still relevant. I wrote it because I was really looking for something like that when I put the bike together.
