I am with ya brother. I love to yak the white stuff, but it is a pain in the ass compared to the bikes. With paddling, you have to set shuttles and drive to locations, set up safety and on and on. With a bike, you just leave the garage and your off.

I was in GA a few weeks ago getting ass handed to me by the frothy stuff.

^^Where was that at? Kayaking is definitely more of a pain. I found a local spot (unfortunately on the South River below Atlanta..yuck!) that has a section of what's Class II stuff in low water, but at about 1500cfs it gets to be pretty tough Class III & forms a lot of good holes to play in, & at the bottom of the rapids it has a trail that goes back to the top. It's only about 50-75m in length, so the hike isn't much of a pain at all. But even with that, I have to wait until after it rains & they flood the river, & then find a friend who likes kayaking to come & spot me at the bottom, & then spot them when I get through. With biking I have to drive 25min to the nearest trails but I can go alone any time as long as it's light enough, & I can go alone. Much simpler.

All the chicks biking seem to be out with their sig other who dragged em out there, and the ones that aren't can't keep up for the life of em, so it's too boring to even try...maybe you guys have more badass women out wherever you are or something. =O On the contrary, the type of chick that can keep up with you is the type of chick you probably don't wanna hit on anyways..lol

Well we do have performance, stamina, & reduced sperm count. Everything that can be gained without a blessed birth or dangerous pills is there

I seriously need to take a trip up to some better mountain biking destinations though. Mountain biking here involves you & maybe one or two other guys hitting up the trails, & then either going home or heading to a bar for some food & drinks. No women involved unless, like me, you get them to come with you to the trails. Oh & if you do go out before going home to change, you get weird looks from everyone because there are no bars or restaurants that are associated with the trails. Me & JohnnyLaw discovered this when we stopped for some Waffle House halfway through a newly discovered trail. Oh well, maybe after I enlist I'll get stationed at Ft Lewis & have Whistler just 6 hours away.

Well, she wouldnt be able to keep up. But the ones who can most likely are butch anyways, maybe a few exceptions, of course, depending on the skill or lack thereof of the male rider. =P

I'd prefer a chick who can keep up so long as she isn't beastly. It makes it a fun sort of challenge to try & be better than her, & you don't have to lie when you tell her she did really well. If I could find a hot chick who loved mountain biking (& kayaking) I'd be set. But the big shot kayakers take all the hot kayaking chicks, & the big shot bikers take all the hot biking chicks. Oh well, such is life.

Well obviously the women in your area are a lot uglier. Around here, a lot of hot chicks ride, they go out riding in groups, there are several women only riding clubs, and a bunch of them race.

So I think you need to move.

The best places for hitting up a patio/bar right after riding are resorts...with Whistler being the best place. You can ride DH all day, head to any of the patios in your DH gear, and pick up biking or non-biking chicks.

It's like that here, except we usually shower / change into other clothes before going somewhere. University town = parties every night. You show up late all fresh - you were just shreddin' it moments earlier sorta thing. I'm way too dirty after a ride to go somewhere, but that might be due to the amount of wet here...

And c'mon guys, you really want to go out and compete with a chick you're interested in? I'd just enjoy the ride. When I ride with a lady, I just hang in the back and enjoy the view. I don't have to prove a point.

Sounds like heaven.

I live in a suburban town. No universities within about two hours. And my favorite local trails are in an even more dead end town called Jackson, GA. Oh well, I'll just have to wait until AIT for a university type feel. No one parties harder than soldiers-in-training at a hotel party

I like a challenge, & I like a woman who does too. Yeah sure, just hanging out & enjoying the view while she does her thing is nice--in bed. But to me, a good challenge is fun, & I want a woman who can keep up & challenges me to do the same.

I'm sure most people would like a partner who could keep 'em on their toes but if they can't at this particular sport, I wouldn't moan 'bout it.

Besides, mountain biking is sorta like my time away from everyone else. I prefer riding with strangers than I do with buddies. I guess that's why I don't care 'bout the skill of my riding partners on the odd occasion I'm with someone else.

Yeah, it's more the painful boredom of doing that than proving anything..but..guess you gotta make sacrifices for the tang!

I never complain about a girl I'm riding with being slow. But I would prefer a girl I don't have to babysit.

1. I'm a church-going, God-fearing kinda guy....and Biking is one of the ways me and my friends spend time together.

2. I also find that it is a great workout, as I used to be in pretty bad shape with the heavy drinking and cigarette smoking. Screw that stuff...I found something better in the form of two wheels.

3. I also used to ride a sport bike, but ran into problems with the policia...aka DUI...so insurance was too high for that two-wheeled love at this time....hence the bicycling.

4. Clears the mind, focuses the soul, challenges the spirit...all good things.

...there are probably thousands of reasons why I think riding should be a part of everyone's life...but those are just a few.

Like the exercise
Great way to relax/clear mind from day to day stress

Road Biking:

Like to tour and see new places
Love being able to ride around town to the bars and restaurants on bike crawls
Like being able to use bikes as a replacement to car

Mtn Biking:

Love the technical challenging aspects of the sport
Love having a way to experience nature
Like the peace and quiet in the forest

Overall the sport has really grown in the last couple years to become my favorite type of recreation.
