Hi, Dave - welcome to the forums.

I'm down-south a bit from you and am an occasional XC rider (leisure, not racing), but mainly a commuter.

I don't know a lot about trials riding, are there a lot of trials riders in your neck of the woods - I'd imagine downhillers are pretty scarce ;)

Richard

davetrials 03-21-02 07:49 AM

Yeah the trials scene is huge over here as is the downhill they both have pretty good TV coverage also its so different over here cus there is a riding place for dirt and street in every city and u dont have to go far to fing new riders check out www.mbuk.com and see what its like over here. DAVE

KleinMp99 03-21-02 06:35 PM

Dave....just wondering.... how old are u?

bikeman 03-21-02 06:51 PM

Hey davetrials. Nice to have you aboard. I don't know if you'll find too much in the way of observed trials, but my sons have dabbled in it quite a bit. My oldest has a pretty nice site that you may not have seen.Trials On-Line That's my youngest son in the gallery on the rocks. The oldest (he is webmaster and designer for the site) is in there too. The site was featured a last year in Mountain Biking UK.

I personally haven't tried it except in the backyard on my son's bikes. They both have custom frames and components and have competed a bit. Also have lots of friends that are darn good trials riders.

We are just waiting for spring to arrive here so everyone in the cold midwestern United States can get out and enjoy the day. Currently, snow, cold and wet. Spring is here but you wouldn't know it.

davetrials 03-22-02 02:54 AM

YEAH IM 18 IVE BEEN RIDING dh FOR ABOUT 6 YEARS AND TRIALS FOR ABOUT 4 YEARS SO HAVE ANY OF YOU LOT BEEN TO THE NORTH SHORE TRAILS CUS IM COMING OVER WITH A FEW FRIENDS NEXT YEAR AND WAS WONDERING IF THEY ARE AS GOOD AS EVERYONE SAYS. AND IS IT TRUE THAT THEY WERE BAND OR SOMETHING?

davetrials 04-16-02 04:32 AM

trials is a damn fun sport i mean i dont nknow how big it is over in the states but it the fastest growing bike sport over here

trialsin 04-16-02 07:48 PM

Im 22 from toronto, and ride almost stricktly trials. the trials scene in T.O. is growing rapidly......but its still hard to find shops that carry trials specific bikes and parts. I want to buy a Planet X, or a Orange but theyre hard to find here in Canada.

uhm...yea. 04-17-02 04:30 AM

nice site.

Rich 04-17-02 04:54 AM

Hi Bikeman,

Your sons have talent! :)

I gave trials a crack a few years back, but never stuck with it...I guess I'm a cross country rider through and through...

Cheers

I REALLY want to learn trials, i've been saying that for a year, i think this year i will follow through with it. I haven't come across any trials riders here in sudbury, ontario.

Oh and have a great time on the Shore. I haven't been, but people i know say its a dream.

davetrials 04-19-02 07:34 AM

most the bike shops over here rcarry trials componats andthere r a few trials shop yeah go for a orange or a pashley ive riden both and there a dream they r truly bike porn or a curtis we have so many trials companys in england. you cant walk through the city centre in n e town without seeing a trials rider. i know a couple of people with brisa`s and they r nice to ride. i ride with a guy with a planet-x red ball and he can side hop up 402 no probs in you want i can get hold of some numbers for bike shops who deliver over seas.

davetrials 04-19-02 07:36 AM

i ment to say 42" no probs

Rich 04-19-02 07:53 AM

Hi Dave,

how would you rate yourself as a trials rider? It seems that the sport has a really large number of talented riders in the UK, doing techniques that wouldn't have been tried say three or four years ago!!

Cheers

Rich

trialsin 04-19-02 11:40 AM

that would be awsome....I have only found one store that has 1 Planetx Zebdi for sale for $650 Canadian. trials is still really small in T.O. Which is cool. I've heard bad things about Brisa's. i have a buddy that claims to have gone through 3 brisa frames in the past year. i think the Planet x and Orange are a bit tougher bikes. When i get my scanner up and running, ill post some pics of my rides.

There is no way that you could have possibly tried hard or long enough. You just joined the forums and you found out about trialsonline here! Doing something like trials is going to take hours, and hours, and probably years to do some basic stuff.

davetrials 04-29-02 04:54 AM

trials is a disapline that you can never master and just get better at for a how to guide go to bashguard.com and talk to some of the best riders in norfolk county and ask for info.
