Hard to say if it's a good deal if you don't say if it's new or used or what price you're looking to pay. Why the older technology, though?

Halogen over LED???? Hmmmmm, maybe I am missing something here????

Magicshine ftw.

The Trailrat is a decent light from an established company. Sorry, I don't have any experience with that light. Personally, I ride with a set of Dinotte 400L lights. One on the bike, another on the helmet and it lights up my commute through a dark German forest pretty well at night. A 400 lumen light and Li-ion battery is a good system; pricey but well worth it.
Check out mtbr, I think they reviewed the light you're looking at as well as others. Good pics and videos |
I just ordered this one. I already have the original and it is great, I can only imagine how much better this is gonna be.:D

There's no reason to go with a halogen light if you're buying new. LED's have completely replaced halogen for good reason - they put out a lot more light for the same battery power, the bulb pretty much never needs replacing, and the only drawback vs halogen is a slightly less natural tint to the light (that no one seems to have a big problem with anyways).
If you're buying used, I would be concerned that the battery would be shot, and the replacement battery would cost as much as a whole new light - if it's even still available. |
