Jamis MTB
 

Need some input on Jamis, I'm a new rider looking to upgrade my MTB, from what I've seen Jamis seems to offer more for the money, again I'm new so I'm not real up on what's good or not. Are they a good bike for the price? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What is your price range? Any bike can be good, and can always get better with upgrades. Jamis is a good bike, depending on which model you get they have good components. I dont think you can go wrong with a jamis. or any other bike out really. You need to ride and see what bike is best for you, it being a jamis or not.

I ride a 2005 Dakar XLT, 3-1/2 years every day, thousands of miles, and it still rides as good as new. (Sure, new cables, tires, and such...)

Jamis makes as good a product as just about anyone. I'm just not looking at their 'new' lines, as the geometry doesn't fit me, nor do I personally care for the aesthetics and design. But quality-wise, you're in good hands.

First off, thanks for the replies. My budget is $600.00-700.00. I've been researching and riding and riding and researching, going back and forth (probably driving the poor guy at Lewis and Clark crazy) I've got it narrowed down to Cannondale F-7 $650.00, Giant Revel 0 $650.00, and Giant Revel 1 $500.00. I came across a Jamis Trail X-2 at $400.00. With the big drop in price, especially with the F-7 and Revel 0, I thought I would get some input on Jamis. Haven't had a chance to ride the Jamis yet, so that's still a factor. Thanks again for the help.

I agree about what fits. I've learned that all name brands are going to be about the same, it's all about what you like. So far the two Giants were the standouts as far as when I rode them they felt right, I threw out Scott and GT as soon as I rode them, haven't rode the Jamis yet though. Being a newbie I don't know too much about componenants, but I will do some research. Thanks for the input.

How about the 2009 Jamis Dakar XCR Pro new for $2549?

$2549 is a bit over my budget, I only want to spend $2545.

I've been somewhat a fan of Jamis bikes for while. I'm not terribly impressed with the Trail-X spec's, but I haven't looked at this years models to see if anything's changed. I do like the frame design.

I think that the lower line stuff is fairly comparable across the board, but I also think Jamis starts to shine when you get to the Low/mid to Mid-level rides. Komodos, XCR's, XAMs, Parkers...all spec'd very well for the money.

Jensonusa.com is usually blowing the crap out of them this time of year too.
