Ebay Item- Looks good!

What do ya'll think of these rims?

How is a ceramic braking surface overagainst machined?

Crossmax wheelset

Yeah, good price. MSRP was $850. I saw them on closeout at $499.

These are a couple of years old though. Still a nice set of wheels. Personally, I liked the black over the silver.

I agree with the color. The black bladed spokes look sweet.

So are you going to bid on them**********

Good Luck!

If they were the disc version, you'd have some competition from me, but rim brakes, uhhhh nope, sorry, aint giving up my discs.

Hey, what do people mean by Disc version? Can't you just switch hubs, or would you have to get totally new spokes/rims for that?

a2psyklnut 09-23-04 01:56 PM

uuuggggghhhhhhh, must control my moderator abilities and NOT ban hooligan for ignorance!!!!!!

Dude, go to the Mavic website and do a little research before posting such ignorant things.

To swap out the hubs on a set of CrossMax's would complete defeat the purpose of getting a set.

O.k., in retrospect that was a little harsh, but you needed some ribbing.

A set of CrossMax's retails for about $850.00. These are designed from the ground up as a complete system. The hubs, spokes, rims are all specifically designed to work as a complete system. The spokes are bladed with special ends. The hubs will ONLY work with the spokes. The rims only work with the spoke.....etc.

To swap out the hubs just wouldn't be practical.

It's all okay. That's what ya get for bein ignorant in the first place. Not to mention, I was looking at the site after, and I Couldn't find the model. All it said was Crossmax tubeless rim brakes, but on the site there was only cross max, crossmax enduro crossmax enduro disc, cross max XL. What model are those?

cryptid01 09-23-04 05:21 PM

There is no comparison. Ceramic is far far superior, both in terms of modulation/feel and durability. Well worth the extra cost, imho.

*cough*i have some for sale - pm me*cough* ;)

gotta agree with a2p... if only those were disc versions

ibrown 09-24-04 11:57 AM

Just to let you know... they went for $355. Still not that bad but trying to stay under $300.
