New bike, now having problems hands/forearms wearing out faster
I just bought a 2010 Gary fisher hifi pro 29er (old bike was a 2009 Specialized epic comp), and I am now having problems with my hands and forearms fatiguing faster than normal. It feels I'm having trouble keeping a grip on the bars when going over rocks and under braking. It feels like the front end is stiffer than I am used to, and requires a tighter grip.
The riding position is much more upright with wider handlebars on this bike vs my old Epic.
My only guesses are the fork is set up incorrectly (too much pressure or wrong rebound) or an after affect of riding faster/harder because I am more comfortable on this bike than on the Epic.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

As you stated...........much wider handlebars! Cut them down. A fit includes mostly: handlebar stem length; handlebar width; size of frame; crankarm length; degree angle of handlebar stem; position of brake calipers and shifters (tweaked until at right natural angle for you); saddle height; stack height of fork to get right back angle.
If your lbs takes all this into consideration like a good one will, you will have a proper fit for the most part. My guy did all this and switched out parts until he had it right to my body.
Good luck.
