Any Grip-Shift Fans?

I have an older Trek MTB which has grip-shifters on it, and I really don't have any complaints about them. I love being able to shift thru most/all the gears in one single motion, rather than click-click-click-click-click-click-click. I've been test-riding new MTBs with both SRAM and Shimano (I like the double-motion top shift lever on the latter), but why don't they make grip shifters anymore? I have heard that some complained about accidental shifting due to slipping onto the grip shift, but that's hardly ever happened to me.

I used to be an insufferable fan of Grip-Shift . . . until the SRAM X._ triggers came along. I will never go back.

They still make Grip Shift. I like 'em, except Halfpipes and the like. I never fell in love with trigger shift. The worst were those push-push shifters of yore, maybe those turned me off to anything but thumb and grip shifters.

Universal Cycles shows

Five 9-speed shifters
Six 8-speed shifters
Two 7-speed and
One 6-speed to choose from.

Wonder if they'll make Grip Shift for XX?

I enjoy my XT triggers on my stumpy. However, I have an old hardrock sport w/ grip shift 8spd. sram & I've got to say, the bike is a 99 & they have never failed.

Hate them! I compare it to birth control vs. condoms! Which gives you a better feel! :D

I prefer the Gripers to this day. My Nitro has em and the Team XT triggers. Grip shifters let me keep a solid grip climbing and descending with very little motion.

Birth control vs Condoms, dude! go to the corner and don't you come out tell you've said yer sorry......DUDE!

I have different vintages of X.0 grip shifters on my bikes. I've been a fan since I put on 9.0SL shifters back in '98. I paired them up with the old yellow Gore shift cables and they shifted like butter. Sram seems to push their trigger shifters and putting the grip shifters on the back burner as seen from their recent product releases - no 10spd grip shifters yet. They're still made, you just gotta search for them.

I have a pair of the Grip Shift Plasma shifters that are over 10 years old with 10'000 plus miles on them and they are still going strong. Best shifter for winter riding when your wearing thick gloves. Tried the newer Grip Shifts that have that funky return spring and didn't like them.

Still a fan. Light, affordable, just keep working. I've got a grip-shift x-ray front shifter, similar to the plasma above, that I've been using since 1998(was used when I got it) over the course of four different bikes- still works (and trims)perfectly. Current home is on my s-works stumpjumper fsr(shifts better than the new ones I've tried on it).
