Replacing indy c

Hello all, I've got a '98 specialized rockhopper with an Indy C front fork. I'd like to replace it with either a rigid fork or suspension with lock out. So I've read I need the Axle to crown measurement, minus 20% of the travel to figure out what length I need. Does anyone know what the travel is on the indy C? I can't seem to find that on the internet.

The Indy C was 63mm travel.

Ok thanks!
So if I get a rigid fork I need something around 413 mm. How far on either side of that length can I go? 400 to 420? And if I find a suspension fork, will something with 80mm travel work?

No experience with the rigid conversion but I would guess your range is about right.

I replaced my stock 63mm travel Indy C with a 80mm Judy long travel of the same vintage with no discernable change in handling or feel. Mind you, I did not measure everything before and after because the IndyC essentially broke, but the 80mm fork felt 'normal' to me Unfortunately, now the Judy is shot also.... I should just look into the rigid conversion too.

that's weird ; my Indy C from my 97 Trek 6500 has about a 407mm a2c - so a corresponding rigid would be in the 395 range, no?
