I've always been wondering what are the major differences between Rock Shox suspension and Manitou forks. I only know that the major differences between the Rock Shox forks are their weight differences and adjustment capabilities. Which companies do you think make better forks???

I personaly ride Rock Shox, however i have nothing bad to say about the Manitou forks. I do think Manitous quality in the higher end forks are a bit better then Rock Shox.

What about Marzocchi? I Personaly think these are the best forks you can own, however i dont own one cose there out of my budget :D

I've used both RS and Manitou, and prefer the Manitou's. I have a '97 FS-Ti, which I've changed out the oil weight and the springs. I like the adjustability on the Manitous and the ease of rebuilding them. That and customer service is very helpful, they have sent me replacement parts free of charge. I also had a '98 Judy SL. I blew the cartridge within 6 months. It felt smooth, just not real reliable. When I rebuilt it, I was so confused, I had to have my wife try to help me because the instructions were so confusing. I finally got it all back together and blew the cartridge again in another 3 months. That was it for me no more Rock Shox. I am also seriously considering Marzocchi's as my next fork. Either last year's Z1 or Z3 with the QR20. Has anyone heard any bad reports on either of these?

If money isn't really an object, go with the marzocchi Z1 series. it's all the quality you can buy, with the best airsprung system you'll find (uses higher volume, lower pressure... better seal integrity). the rigidity, travel, smoothness.. it's all there.

if not that, i'd suggest the sid 100 (it's six grams lighter than the marzocchi)... it's somewhat limited in adjustability and rigidness, but has a nice compression feel. And, it's about 250$ less.

i ride a judy xc and the fork works very well but it is very compicated to take aparte. But the sid is a very good shox if you want something lite and has enouf travelle. But the new systeme that manitou uses to lub the shox is very fast and trouble free. I would also recomende you take a look at the bombers the have alot of travel and the not so populare white bros fork, they make a good fork but that is expensive.
