Night ride
 

I have been invited on a night ride. The last 2 times I have ridden, in the daylight hours, I have gotten off the trail (not lost but definetly off the trail) because the leaves cover the trail. I cannnot imagine riding at night. Obviously, lights will be required. Any ideas on type or style of lighting and is there anything else for a night ride I will need. I have plenty of stupid and willingness.

if you can, a light on your handlebars AND a light on your helmet helps. (handlebar light aimed at the trail, headlight for lookin around corners and such) other than that, take it slow, easy, and enjoy the ride. no matter how much you know a trail, it is totally different (and super fun) at night. have a great time and let us know how it went.

Yes, a good quality helmet mounted light is a MUST.

I get a large box of bandages in addition to what pablo suggests. Is there any time to pre-ride the trail you will be taking?

I have ridden all the trails where we will be going. I know all the trails quite well. I have blood and skin on many of the rocks and roots. Everything will be different in dark.

Tomorrow (thursday) is the night ride. It is dark at 6 pm, we ride at 7 pm. Can't wait!!

I'll be there tonight, we are leaving the shop at six or close to it. Should be agood time, that little bit of rain should make the trails tacky. See you about 7:00

You missed a great ride.

Sorry I missed out on the ride. I was paged out for a fire and did not get back in time. I may be at the shop tomorrow, my daughter wants to take her driving test (written protion), so I may stop by. I will get to ride on Sunday, in the daylight.
