Anyone ever see Klunkerz?
So for anyone that hasn't heard of it, Klunkerz is a documentary about the early days of mountain biking. I just found out about it recently and wanted to know if anyone had seen it. Is it worth checking out?
|
Nope. Do a search for klunkerz. Go to the MTB hall of fame website, grab a beer, and relax for a while. The history of MTB's is really interesting.
Also...check out this guy: http://sonic.net/~ckelly/Seekay/ |
Thanks for the props Chelboed. Let me add this. Billy Savage put his heart, soul, and a lot of money into the film, and while he still has the heart and soul, he spent more than he made. Everyone ripped him off, copied the DVD and put the whole thing online for downloads. His distributor claimed sales of a couple of dozen in all of Europe, where everyone seems to have seen it.
Do the man a favor, go to the Klunkerz website and click the "DVD" link to the right of the poster to send Bill some love that does not go to a middleman. |
Jerks! Next payday...I'm on it.

Hey RR, thanks man, but it's really not that bad. They actually said I sold a few hundred overseas...about as many as we did in Scotland! No worries, as it was always a labor of love, not some total money making opportunity. I made some mistakes and got ripped off. I can't lay that on anyone but me. I got in sharky waters and I was bleeding like a stuck pig. They saw me coming. It's part of the process, I suppose. I just wish I had a lawyer in the family, since that what I ended up dropping most of the coin on. All those guys made more money than I'll ever see. That's just the business guys, though. I'm just glad everything stayed on the level with all the people IN the movie. They were the real audience I was making it for in the first place. I figured some others would come along for the ride and I might break even. I'm still not sure why I couldn't get some sponsors on board when every 30 minute hucking video has them all over the place. It's probably because I'm no fun to work with...right Repack Rider? ;-). I bet the The Eclipse Machine Co of Elmyra, NY would have been perfect, since they made the Morrow Coaster Brake. Too bad they went under just after WWII. Thanks again for everything.

I think this could be a good sticky in the MTB marketplace forum. Put a link to the website so people can support it as long as it doesn't violate any precious guidelines.:D After all...the "core" of mountain biking seems to be somewhere around the All Mountain marketing labeled category and the Klunkers were the first All Mountain riders. They gutted it up to the top as best they could and shredded back down with their hair on fire. They just didn't have our sissy technology to pansy-out the ride:lol: |
