Well so i know a 20" Giant is what is recommended for me, I'm not sure about Trek or Specalized, I'm 6' 1" at max and 165 lbs

I'm sick and tired of WalMart Bikes

and so any ideas on Specialized or Trek? looking for a hardtail kinda cheap, Started looking at a specialized hardrock (dealer did not tell me what size or that, it would cost to have me fitted) so any ideas

just found a 2010 hardrock 19" disc for 250 thoughts

any other help would be appreciated

You'll have to get out there and check it out.
I was shopping for an MTB and test rode an early 2000's 19inch RockHopper, (round tube frame) and had to tip-toe to keep the gems off the top tube. I went to look at a 2005 19inch RockHopper (square tube frame) and had at least two inches of clearance. I bought the '05 and absolutely love that bike.

Before that, I bought a '94 RockHopper, also 19inch, brand new. I didn't know what fitting was, and that bike had me way too stretched out. The top tube was super long for me. Gave me back trouble even after I installed a MUCH shorter stem.

Well guess who has a 97 Giant Inguana SE 16" frame, that I paid $25 for that cleaned up realllllll nice, soo...... are you interested in a nice Giant bike and give me the RockHopper for like 100 cheaper or like that, (I believe that the Giant is at least worth that correct) (was planing on using it for a collage bike to get trashed by idiots) but if I can get 100 off of it I would be happy for 25 bucks and a bit of time

So if I could get a 2010 RockHopper (Disc Breaks) for either 250 (shops asking 400 non-disc) or 150 with a trade with my Giant, I think that is a good deal

anything I should look for on it, basically if I can ride it and does not look bent it should be fine correct?

Reason I ask, is if i'm spending 12-30 on a bike its fine for spot check, but kinda don't wanta waste 250 on a bad bike

okay so the 2010 bike, is striped of everything just about

the older is in a not so good area, and with everything not going to get it

If you are going to buy new, test ride several different brands before you buy. I found the Gary Fisher frame geometry to fit me better than the Trek or Giant. And the forks were better on the GF for the same price range.

I also found the Giant to feel more omfortable in the Hybrid style, so one brand may not fit you better all across the models (e.g. xc, hardtail, full susp, etc.).

thank you and yeah, right now looking at 2010 Trek 4300 (399) v-breaks and a Giant Recon (450) disc so ill have to see
