I am not going to start with this, but seriously, the mountain bike scene has recently been dominated by Freeriders. And if you tell a freerider to not slide, he will tell you to go f yourself.

Do you build or maintain trails?

I don't honestly. I am hardly interested for now. I know trailbuilding is common for xc riders in local scene, but you may not know, freeriders also build. They build more. They rip even more. I have trailbuilding friends in the XC scene, and they warned me not to rip trails. I would not want to hurt their feelings, but i figure i should let some truth be heard.

well you got me there...but enlight me if you please with some real sense, not those people that don't know how to powerslide.

all i am saying is, i do powerslide, and no matter it's good or not for the trail, it's not much of a big issue and pro riders do it all the time.

I am pretty sick with people not in the MTB scene going against MTB for this ****ty reason or that lame law.

I am also sick of watching people who don't know nothing about MTB talk about powerslide, defining it, regulating it, warning people the danger of it, when they have not even tried doing it and feel the fun.

I can't believe some people try to talk people out of doing that, and with a lack of real appealing reason, say that it's going to slow rider down...........

What kind of R tard think flat out will slow down cornering.....

I'm on the executive committee for a group that maintains freeride and DH trails. Anytime your tires are sliding you'll cause some degree of trail wear. Most of our builders are aware of it, build accordingly, and on our trail maintenance days, extra trail love gets put to those areas.

The problem is too many people drag their rear tire in the corners or drop/jump landings and that causes a lot of wear or brake bumps.

there are many ways you don't use this skill, it's basically rarely used by XC riders and they don't like people using it to harm their organization's social acceptance--------------this is the truth
It's more used by avid trail riders with some DH/FR background or style. Which i am.

Currently i have not ripped anything in the dirt other than some loose leaves. I have been training my skills in the snow all winter on this skill.

oh that's great to hear....YEAH...LUCKY I was not on such a team...but giving love is definitely good thing. You guys rock and those XC trailbuilders SUCK

You should probably stick to ski resorts in the summer if that's how you feel about volunteer trail builders.

I'm involved in the building and maintaining of a pumptrack here in NJ, that is hopefully going to be adding in a dedicated DJ line, and a slalom course.

Right now trying to figure out if a dirt taco can be built.

We have a few guys in our group that maintains some XC trails as well and I don't think they suck. The XC trails are awesome when you want to pedal up to hit the DH trails, rather than shuttle. And our guys design them so they are fun to rip down on either a small or big bike.

We're under a bunch of snow but this is a good time of year to do some building...clearing, prepping for jumps and other trail features, etc. Some you may have opportunities where ever you are...ask around at your local groups.

How so?

One of the regulars that rides the place uses an Intense Tracer(AM bike) on the track. Seen people ride there with bmx bikes, xc bike(26 AND 29.) It's actually a great skills builder.
