santacruz V11 or somthin' else
can someone give me an overview of this new baby called santacruz V-11. has anyone rode or maybe own one?

I don't think anyone here has really put any time on one. El Jefe has one and used to come here quite a bit but he mostly hangs out on ridemonkey.com I am pretty sure between 2003 and 2004 (or maybe 2004 and 05) they changed the geometry to make it a little more rideable. I believe (if I remember) a shorter wheelbase (it was excessively long) and slacker seat tube angle. |

Check over on mtbr.com theres a few people that have them. I know you cant run a front derailuer now, not really sure about geo changes though.
O yeah, currently....no I dont, I use them for parts. Looking to build one up when they get an 05' stock going. Hopefully be able to pick up a level1 sponsorship for racing from them so I can get the new frame for free :D Chads a great guy though, and it seems like a sweet company. |
Go heads of tails. If you get heads and you feel like it's not truely the bike you wanted that won. Buy the bike you chose for tails. Or vice versa...
But, to be honest. I'd go with the V10, that virtual pivot point looks very promissing. |

Santa Cruz even got into the carbon state of mind that seemed to be prevalent at Interbike this year. The new V-11 features a carbon rear fender. Oh, and 255mm of VPP rear-wheel travel, a 150mm / 12mm rear end, and full titanium hardware. Frame-only pricing is $2,199 for powdercoat and a 5th Element with cromo spring, $2,399 for ano, and about another $240 to throw in a Hadley rear hub. Complete prices range from $4,953 to $6,034. |
if my assumptions are correct, the v11 is the new v10. i think people are just calling it the v11 because of the radically different new frame design. of course, i could be wrong...

You are right. It is just the v10. But I think even santa cruz is calling it the v11. Thats what it was called at interbike as far as the report I read said.

The name implies that the frame has gained an inch of travel over this years model, giving it 11". Mine's only 4". I'm developing a complex

From what ive heard, the V10 is still the V10....it was the V11 in prototyping. I believe its still the 10inches, not 11. If nobodys sure, im sure I could find out from somebody that has one :D

i happen to read about V 11 or maybe it was a miss of + 1 LOL!!! i've worned out my Haro DHR to extinction that im planning to buy a new one.i had a look at the Haro 20005 model of their DH bikes and i think it sucks. but anyway its worth a try.

the one thing i fear most is that it isn't FSR linked. the one i have on my Haro DHR is FSR which is a patent of Specilazed and it worked Great!! i haven't had the chance to sit on SPV's and that builds up my worries. and will it handle a 20 ft drop! is it not that wimpy to do those jumps?? :eek:

SPV is kind of a misnomer. Lots of shocks remove small bump damping without blowing the shock. It is just a really tight compression damping controll (some are fancier than others)...
Most wouldhandle 20ft nicely...but over time most shocks will die without regular servicing. |
