A possibly get a close out deal.

PWRDbyTRD 11-05-04 05:30 PM

I mean I just don't like the blue...if I had to choose I'd pick the 2k4, which I did.....plus it doesn't look like some freakin' huffy...people look at it, even who dont' know bikes, and are like where'd you get that? I had our HR guy at work as me what those silver circles on my wheels were...I explained they were brakes and he was just stunned.

FreakinNewDude 11-05-04 05:44 PM

I'm still wondering about the difference in the 05 and the 04 parts though. They changed quite a bit, for the better or worse?
I'm liking dookey brown now. How is that seat treating you?

PWRDbyTRD 11-05-04 06:05 PM

After adjusting the seat, it's still a small seat, but at 400lbs on the 20" frame I'm doing fine...now I'm adjusting to clipless pedals.

I have not seen the creme color in person. Only online. No shop I know of has the 2005 Caldera in yet. The first time I saw it I loved it, but I know not everyone will.

I showed the bike to my buddy who doesn't ride but does have a $50 Pacific Fission from the department store. He said, "Looks just like my bike." I wanted to kill him.

PWRDbyTRD 11-05-04 06:17 PM

LoL...I was riding over to Cryogenic's one night and some kid screamed "You wanna sell that bike" I said no, but in my mind was thinking "My bike is worth more than your father's car" LoL. Beat up 89 tempo or something....just killed me, but I just said no.

Scottluebke2004 11-05-04 06:50 PM

That was quite a sad story. It's always sweet to have someone drool over your bike when they don't even know the difference between a Huffy and a Cannondale.

My buddies "Fission" is such a piece. He was asking me why the front shock always sounds like it's hitting metal and I could say "It is hitting metal." After 1 trail ride on it the front deraiuller stopped working. That's what you get for $60. But I'd still like to take it off a 2-3 footer and see what happens.

PWRDbyTRD 11-05-04 06:53 PM

At the same time, people not recognizing the Kona name is a good thing...they'll probably snag the cannondale before mine!

PWRDbyTRD 11-05-04 06:53 PM

plus the color of mine is SHlT! So yeah!

hooligan 11-05-04 06:55 PM

Mine was made in vietname. For god's sake.

PWRDbyTRD 11-05-04 06:56 PM

what kind of bike do you have?

:D LOL!!! You should tell people that when they ask what color it is. Be all serious and say you had a choice of ***** or Puke for the color; it was a tough choice but you could only have one so ... . I'd love to see the looks on their faces when you told them that! :roflmao: Crazy company that Kona is I wouldn't be too surprised to see those as actual color offerings someday (gotta' love a bike maker that isn't all uptight and corporate!).

Personally, I think it's a great color.

hooligan 11-05-04 08:38 PM

I've a kona scrap 2004.

PWRDbyTRD 11-05-04 11:39 PM

I chose the color over the 2005 model...the 2k5 model looks lame :( I just totally dislike the color, plus I got a steal on my 04. People with common sense catch on though, I rode my bike up to corporate HQ to talk to HR and the HR guy questioned what my disc brakes were once I told hiim he was like so it's a specialized bike eh?

cryogenic 11-06-04 12:16 AM

I'd have been like "no, it's a Kona.. my buddy rides a Specialized, though"

PWRDbyTRD 11-06-04 09:08 AM

LoL that's what I was thinking and I would have loved to piss lopater off, but unfortunately that would have kept me in that hell hole for a longer period of time....lopater=HR guy.

swifferman 11-06-04 10:34 AM

I agree, the paint scheme on Kona's is totally wack and I love it.

The Kona Fire Mountain is the awesome blue red combonator.
Now I need to pick me up some toe clips!

PWRDbyTRD 11-06-04 10:37 AM

Mentioning that I rode the bus this morning and I put my bike on the bike rack and a few stops later some guy throw his NEXT FS bike on there...and then proceeds to ask me what kinda bike mine was and where I got it and blah blah blah...I explained to him why I didn't want a FS and so on and so forth...he just totally thinks his bike rocks :) I found it amusing. In his opinion his was basically better b/c it was full suspension. I was too tired to argue it.

Grimlock 11-07-04 12:57 AM

So I'm one of the only people who LIKE the 2005 colours? I think the Caldera is especially gorgeous. I might be a little bit biased though, as I used to have a guitar (a wonderful Les Paul copy, for those who care) in exactly the same colour.

hooligan 11-07-04 03:19 PM

Pwrdbytrd, the final statement is "Thats a department store bike, mine ain't and mine is better than yours. Period. Now if you excuse me, I've better things to do, like scratch my head."

Not necessarily ALL the colors, but as far as the hoss dee-lux goes...I like the 2k4 over 2k5

I like 'em a lot, too. They take a little getting used to and then it's like ... Yup!
