Looking for some Trails : Colorado
Hey everybody,
New here and new to mountain biking. Im riding a 2011 Specialized HardRock and live in Fort Collins, CO. Im looking for some trails that would fit a beginner. I am not a beginner on a bike, was a huge road biker for years, but just getting into mountain biking and need some trails to start out on. Any suggestions? |
lory state trails might be up your alley. maybe devils backbone (which sounds all gnarly but isn't). look at trails.com. or come out to fruita, i'll take you on some fun stuff.

I don't think there are any trails in Colorado are there?
|
+1 Lory state park... nice rolling hills.
The Blue Sky Trail connects Lory State park to horsetooth to devils backbone. I've also heard good things about Soap Stone and Red Mountain Openspace Curt Goudy State Park in WY has nice beginer trails. |

actually no, but we have some stuff we like to call "trails." mostly crap, not really worth it, but we do what we can.

I'm gonna come out and try that humble mess you call "Kokopelli's" this May. We'll see if it can possibly compare to the grandeur of a good ol' Texas cow path.
|
I am kinda a beginner and ride Coyote ridge that connects to Blue Skye, Devils, and eventually make it to Lori's. If you want a tough climb go to Coyoteridge.
|
Thanks a lot guys. I'll think I'll try devils backbone and some of blue sky out and back. Hope to see you guys once I get started out there!
thanks again |
What they all said.
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f1...-8-2007011.jpg Ask around for stuff up the Poudre as well. Some kick ass, and little known stuff up there. Young's Gulch is my fav up there, but I'd not suggest it if new to the dirt world. There is another trail system close by, heading up another gulch as well. Forget the name of that one, but the two make a nice day on the bike. |
The other gulch is called Hewlets gulch (sp?)... there is a also a good book I think its called mountain bike on the front range colorado or something like that. Youngs is nice but rocky... Hewlets is easier but has its challenging spots.

you will have a crappy time. if you want, let me know when you are in town, i'll come out and have a crappy time with you.
The plan is to ride out of Loma, toward Moab on Monday, 9 May. With luck we can see some crappy local trails on Sunday. |
Whatever you do....after you ride all the trails on the front range.....DEFINITELY go to Fruita. I lived there for 8 years...........unbelievably, unparalleled riding.
