santa cruz superlight

my friend has a santa cruz superlight, and he is having a lot of trouble with the rear shock. the bottom of it connects to the frame really kind of weird... it has a bar that it fits on, but there is nothing to hold the shock in the middle of the bar... just kind of a rubber washer to hold it tightly... there is about 2 inches of play on either side. so anyways... he just bought the bike a month ago or so, and endoed soon after, and the shock fell off the rubber washer... ever since then, he has tried to get it to fit on it again but it comes off very often... the bike shop won't do anything about it because he wrecked it... but i told him that the bike was only a week old and they should do something about it. But i don't know... if they can't do anything about it... what does he do to fix it? i hope my description made sense

Sure dude,

Santa Cruz bikes has some of the best customer service in the business. Tell your buddy to give them a call and tell them that the bike shop is not helping him out. Trust me, they will do all they can to fix the mater. Santa Cruz are great guys. You can get the tech departments number of the Santa Cruz website.

Maybe I'm understanding you wrong, but this doesn't sound like any kind of major replacement. I'd personally be a little disappointed if I gave a bike shop $3000 worth of business and they wouldn't at least help me find out what needs to happen to make my bike work properly again, and if it were something simple, just take care of it to keep me coming back next time I want to buy something nice.

see that's what i say too... i told him that they should back their product up... but he said they won't and he said he doesn't really wanna push it... i talked to him tonight about it for a while, and i think he's gonna try to take it to the shop again, but he's not optimistic... he said it comes off all the time now... i don't understand why they won't help him out... but it's a pretty big bike shop and they don't seem to care about him... i would be a little upset and wanting to make a big deal out of it... but he's being timid about it and is just sucking it up...

Ok even if they didn't want to do it he could just pay them like a $5 service charge...
